It's a proven historical fact that all the world's most brilliant dreamers have graduated from the school of adversity. Many of the most famous and innovative people in the world have faced opposition for following their heart and pursuing their goals. This adversity and even at times persecution can come from a variety of sources, such as a friends, family, colleagues, fellow teammates, and all sorts of other people. Although these people are different, they all have one thing in common: they are dream killers.
The first thing you need to accept when you make up your mind to pursue your dreams and goals is that not everyone is going to support what you are doing. You will face opposition from people who will try to tear you down and rip you apart. They will pummel you with condescending remarks and tell you how impossible your goal is and that you are never going to be good enough to accomplish those goals. You will face some who will not only tear you down, but they will actually take action to try and prevent you from getting where you want to go.
There are several different ways you can deal with a dream killer. One way is to confront the person and tell them how you feel. Let them know that it even though it hurts to not have their support, you are not going to slow down or stop to make them happy. Another way of dealing with a dream killer is to take a step back from the relationship you have with the person. If it is a family member who is opposing you, simply pull yourself back and not spend so much time around that individual, at least for the time being.
A third successful way of dealing with the opposition you face from dream killers is to surround yourself with people who are like-minded. Iron sharpens iron, and the best way to stay motivated and encouraged is to build relationships with other people who are as ambitious as you are. Hanging around these people will give you a breather from hearing all the negative talk and give you that push you need to keep going.
Although you will have to deal with dream killers eventually, you do not have to listen to their negative talk. Who cares what they say about you or your dreams? Don't allow them to gain any influence in your life; instead use their own negative talk and energy to fuel your own drive toward success. You do not have to let your dreams die or be crushed. Keep moving forward and the results at the end will be worth the effort.
